PAL lists

The PanAfrican Localisation project has established three (3) e-mail lists, one each in three working languages (that are also official languages in many African countries: PAL-en in English; PAL-fr en français; e PAL-pt em português. These are intended to facilitate communication among localisers and others about localisation information and efforts all over Africa.

The 3 lists are linked by automatic "machine translation" (MT) which, while far from perfect, permits people in all working languages to understand the gist of discussion in any of them, and to respond in their preferred working language.

Lists information and subscription

Each list has a homepage where you can subscribe or access the list archives:

You may only post in the language of the list that you are subscribed to. So, on PAL-en, post only in English (examples in African languages are naturally accepted on all). You may, of course, subscribe to more than one list.

Translation by "Tradauto"

The MT is done with a system called "Tradauto" provided by FUNREDES: http://funredes.org/tradauto/

RSS feed

RSS feed for all three lists combined can be obtained with this URL http://rss.groups.yahoo.com/group/PAL-archives/rss

"PAL-archives" is a back-up combined archive for all three lists: PAL-en, PAL-fr, and PAL-pt. It also provides a convenient way to get an RSS feed.
