East African Community (EAC)

The East African Community (EAC) is a grouping that has its roots in colonial-era connections between what are now Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. It now also includes Burundi and Rwanda.

Policies relevant to language, ICT & localisation

Concern with optimal regional integration in the EAC has influenced Uganda's decision to raise the status of Swahili in its language policy.
