African language versions

Firefox (and Mozilla) browsers have been localised in some African languages:

• An Arabic version of Firefox 2.0.0.3 فايرفوكس is available at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
• Translate.org.za has localised Firefox 1.5.0.9 in the following South African languages, available at http://translate.org.za/content/view/1611/54/ :

  • Tsonga
  • Tswana
  • Venda
  • Xhosa
  • Zulu
• A Swahili version of Firefox can be downloaded at http://www.it46.se/downloads/firefox-swahili/
• ICT Translations Uganda released a Mozilla browser in Ganda, called "Kayungirizi" (current status uncertain; last available information available here: http://www.translate.or.ug/
• In 2007 the Alf@net project of ANAFA translated Firefox 2 in Wolof. This is not yet on the Mozilla site. See http://www.alfanet.anafa.org/historique.html
• Appfrica reports a Translate@thon at Makerere University in which students worked on translating Firefox3 into Ugandan langauges. (2008-8-14) http://appfrica.net/blog/archives/241
