The second workshop of the PanAfrican Localisation project, "PAL2" is being held in Tshwane, South Africa, on 5-7 November 2007.
This is a special section of the PanAfriL10n.org wiki for the PAL2 workshop. It uses the name of the municipal area in which PAL2 will take place: Tshwane.
About / A propos
PAL2 is the third workshop on localisation in Africa that is funded by IDRC, following the first PanAfrican Localisation workshop in Casablanca, Morocco (2005/6/13-15) and the Pan African Research on L10N Workshop & Localization Blitz in Marrakech, Morocco (2007/2/24-27).
It is being facilitated on the local level by Translate.org.za. Travel logistics are being facilitated by Kabissa.
Purposes / Buts
The workshop builds on the previous meetings, as well as others and ongoing developments in the localisation community. It has the following goals:
- Generate recommendations on the sustainability of the PanAfrican Localisation (PAL) project – notably the website and wiki, which are intended as ongoing and “living” resources.
- Discuss future directions, initiatives, and specific projects relating to IDRC's localisation program in Africa.
- As another in a series of meetings on localization in Africa, it will facilitate individual contacts within the emerging network, including experts from countries that have not previously participated.
Please see Background for further details about the project purpose.
Location / Lieu
The conference venue is actually located in the town of Centurion just south of Pretoria and within the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality.
